Juan Manuel is researcher and promoter of ICT projects on the fields of Development and Social Action. He is the founder of SocialTIC A.C., a NGO dedicated to the enablement of actors for change, through the strategic use of Digital Technology and Information. He has led and advised ICT usage projects with different international organisms and Latin American organisations on ICT topics towards achieving transparency, accountability, civic incidence, citizenry participation, open data, digital security, open culture and digital citizenship. With SocialTIC he has partly encouraged the Open Government and Open Parliament processes in México as well as the communities of Data School and Desarrollando América Latina. Juan Manuel is ICFJ Knight Fellow 2014 – 2015, as such he has enabled communities and journalism projects through the use of data and digital technology in México and Central América.

He is Master in Science on Management and Implementation of Development Projects by the Manchester University with a specialty in Social Innovation, he also counts with a degree on Industrial Engineering and Systems by the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Estado de México. He has 15 years experience in the Civil Society Sector in the fields of Social Development, Education, Environment and Development Technology. In the Private Sector he has been a consultant for Accenture on Corporative Strategy, Business Processes Operations and Management.
