Justus Brown

HEAD OF TRANSIT PLATFORM AND CONTENT AT HERE

Justus Brown is from the Midwestern United States and studied computer systems engineering and history at Stanford University, in Silicon Valley. An internship with the transport planning office of Berlin solidified his passion for public transport, and this led him to join Nokia in 2008 to work on location-based services for urban mobility. He currently leads a global team collecting and serving public transport information to consumers in an easy way, wherever they are in the world.

Leyla Arsan

Leyla is member of the board of Turkish Informatics Foundation and founder of Professional Consultants Association. She is coordinator of Istanbul Information Society Watchdog Group and Digital Agenda Localization Project in Turkey.

Maxim Nohroudi

CO-FOUNDER & CEO OF ALLY

Maxim Nohroudi, allryder CEO and Co-Founder, takes care of the business side of things at allryder. He’s an economist at heart, and studied at Harvard, MIT & WHU. Before going into startups, he was the youngest ever vice-president of a German university. When not delighting everyone with his love for 80s music, Maxim is usually busy managing Product, HR & Investor Relations.

Michael Mulquin

DIRECTOR OF CITY BUILDING BLOCKS

Michael is an active member of most of the European and International standards bodies working on developing standards and guidance documents for smart cities. He was technical author for a recently published British Standards Institution (BSI) publication: Smart cities – Guide to the role of the planning and development process, and has in the process of finished another BSI Guide that provides an overview of smart cities for city and industry leaders.

Arzu Tekir

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF EMBARQ TURKIYE

Arzu was appointed Director of the Turkish center of the EMBARQ Network in December 2011, where managed the establishment process of Sustainable Transportation Association. She initially joined EMBARQ in January 2011 as Operations Manager. She also worked as European Union Projects Coordinator and External Relations Director for IT companies, directed the financing of research and development projects and initiated the firms’ participation in several key European Union (EU) organizations.

Hazim Bumin

GENERAL MANAGER OF UBER TURKEY

Hazim tarted his career at Mercedes-Benz Turkey, and had several positions in Light Commercial Vehicles Sales & Marketing Department. Later on he moved to Sony Turkey where he worked in Sales. Lastly, he was managing IT & Digital Imaging Business in Turkey as Business Group Manager.

Kenan Kilavuz

MANAGER OF INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS OF IETT

KENAN completed his MSc degree in Energy Institute of Istanbul Technical University in 2011, he became the manager of IETT Intelligent Transportation Systems Department in 2013 and he continues for his PhD in the same institute simultaneously. He works for passenger information systems and big data management in ITS sector.

Ömer Onur

Project Management and Organizational Development expert. Omer Onur has more than 30 years of corporate experience by working most of his years in Ford Motor Company, Ericsson and Turkcell Communications at various management roles in the areas of Organizational Development, Quality, IT, Strategy and Project Management.

Kerem Alper

CO-FOUNDER OF ATÖLYE ISTANBUL

Kerem was chosen a Lightspeed Venture Partners Fellow in 2012 through which he founded a agriculture software startup. Later on he worked at Nest Labs (www.nest.com) where he gained product development experience. He returned to Istanbul in 2014 as the co-founder of ATÖLYE Labs, an interdisciplinary design and innovation studio.

Serdar Yümlü

Serdar served as the Director of Technology up to 2013 and then appointed as the Business Development Director where he still manages Cloud Computing, Open Data initiatives and European Union funded projects besides international Smart City business development projects.

Devrim Gündüz

FOUNDER OF TURKISH POSTGRESQL USERS’ ASSOCIATION

Devrim gave more than 300 talks in several countries, on open source and related topics. He is a part of Turkish Linux Users Association, PostgreSQL Europe, PostgreSQL US and one of the founders of Turkish PostgreSQL Users’Association.

ISTANBUL COMMUNITY MANAGER OF YELP

Gulfem worked in various sectors in Localization & Marketing, and then got a Digital Media Marketing certificate from NYU. Having a keen interest in Digital marketing, Gulfem has been working as a Sr. Community Manager at Yelp since 2013 at which she built a community and has continued growing it.

Ali Rebaie

Ali is a Big Data & Analytics industry analyst and consultant of Rebaie Analytics Group. He provides organizations with a vendor-neutral selection of business intelligence & big data technologies and advice on big data and information management strategy and architecture. Ali also appeared in several lists of “Who’s Who in Big Data” and as one of the top big data influencers worldwide.

Ali Halabi

Volt is Turkey’s inner-city ride-sharing app which provides a real-time ride-sharing platform for people going in the same direction. Volt is built around communities such as universities, companies and residential compounds; which allows users to share rides with people they already trust.

Patrick Bosteels

A creator of many things, starting at the Academy of fine Arts in Gent, Belgium, to become a photographer, cineast. Patrick spent his first professional years as a free-lancer working for video-productions and television. Followed very soon by his first company and many more to come.

Julian Petrin

FOUNDER OF NEXTHAMBURG

Petrin is member of the german academy of urban design and planning and he is convent member at the German Foundation for Building Culture. For his work at the intersection of urban design and participation he has recieved several awards. Since 2013 he has been called as visiting professor for urban management at the university of Kassel.

Specialists from Istanbul and London take a seat in this panel to elaborate on the different outcomes and benefits from opening the data of the Public Transport Systems.

This panel aims to showcase how crowdsourcing and community building can and actually improve our cities and the lives of their citizens.
